Green Toning

Green Toning® Laser Skin Brightening & Rejuvenation

What is Green Toning®?

Green Toning® is an advanced non-ablative laser skin rejuvenation treatment designed to improve pigmentation, skin clarity, redness, and overall skin tone. The treatment utilises specialised Q-switched laser technology, combining the 1064 nm Nd wavelength with selected use of the 532 nm KTP wavelength when appropriate.

Green Toning® works by delivering ultra-short pulses of laser energy into the skin. These pulses selectively target unwanted pigmentation and excess melanin while minimising damage to surrounding tissues. The laser energy creates a photoacoustic effect, breaking pigment particles into microscopic fragments that can be naturally cleared by the body’s immune and lymphatic systems.

Unlike more aggressive resurfacing procedures, Green Toning® aims to improve skin quality and pigmentation with minimal downtime, making it a popular option for patients seeking gradual, natural-looking skin rejuvenation.

Why Choose Green Toning®?

Green Toning® is designed to address both pigmentation concerns and overall skin quality.

Potential benefits include:

How Does Green Toning® Work?

Green Toning® combines laser wavelengths that target pigmentation at different depths within the skin.

The 1064 nm Q-switched Nd wavelength is commonly used to treat diffuse and deeper pigmentation and promote overall skin rejuvenation. Selected pigmented lesions may also be treated using the 532 nm KTP wavelength when clinically appropriate. This is also called spot hunting.

As pigment particles are fragmented and gradually cleared by the body, patients may notice a more even complexion, improved skin brightness, and enhanced skin quality over time.

Which Areas Can Be Treated?

Green Toning® can be used to treat pigmentation and sun damage on many areas of the body, including:

  • Face
  • Neck
  • Décolletage
  • Hands
  • Arms
  • Back
  • Shoulders
  • Legs

Treatment recommendations are individualised according to the location and type of pigmentation present.

What Does Treatment Feel Like?

Most patients describe Green Toning® as a mild snapping or warming sensation on the skin. Anaesthetic cream is generally not required, and treatments are usually well tolerated.

Is There Any Downtime?

Green Toning® typically involves minimal downtime.

Immediately after treatment, mild redness or pinkness may occur and usually settles within a few hours. Some pigmented lesions may temporarily darken before gradually fading.

Most patients are able to return to normal daily activities immediately following treatment.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

The number of treatments required depends on the type and severity of pigmentation, skin type, and treatment goals.

Many patients benefit from a series of treatments performed several weeks apart to achieve optimal results.

Your practitioner will develop an individualised treatment plan during your consultation.

Important Skin Health Information

Before undergoing treatment for pigmentation, we strongly recommend a comprehensive skin examination by an appropriately qualified medical practitioner.

Some pigmented lesions may require medical assessment to exclude skin cancer or other conditions before cosmetic treatment is considered. Once pigmentation is removed or altered, future monitoring of those lesions may become more difficult.

For this reason, suspicious or changing lesions should always be assessed before laser treatment is performed.

Important Information

Individual results vary and depend on factors including skin type, pigmentation severity, sun exposure, hormonal influences, lifestyle factors, and adherence to aftercare recommendations.

While many patients experience noticeable improvement in pigmentation and skin quality, no cosmetic procedure can guarantee a particular outcome. Some patients may require maintenance treatments or combination therapies to achieve their desired results.
